WindanSea Invitational

The last Coalition Contest of 2009!

This contest decided the winning surf club for all of 2009's total scores. All teams that attended were fired up and ready to compete. The heats were stacked with some really good and talented surfers. The Malibu Surfing Association, Oceanside Surf Club, Doheney Surf Club and many others came to San Diego...It was a great 2 day event.

The contest was held at La Jolla Shores on 12/05-12/06, and with a few storms approaching San Diego it made the waves a bit choppy.

The first day was concluded with a dinner at the Cass St Cafe. With special guests Mike Hynson and Sean Thompson! Sean gave a quick presentation, they were both there promoting their books. After a great meal and some awesome conversations. A few older surf moves were played along side a photo slide show of WindanSea. It was amazing to see the old surfing footage.

The WindanSea surf club did a good job putting on the contest. A special 'Shout Out' goes to Guayaki Yerba Mate for contributing over 250 drinks to keep the contestants hydrated and the judges awake. Thanks Guayaki...you guys ROCK! A huge thanks goes to all the sponsors who helped to make this event happen and the over 250 contestants that competed.

WindanSea surf club ended up taking the #1 team spot for the year, with Oceanside and Doheney rounding out the top 3 teams of California.

Look for the Coalition contests to pick up again in January! Cant wait to see everyone again.

Transition Blog

I recently had a TV segment come out for my surfing it was called Top Turns, in the segment it talked about my surfing career as well as highlighting parts of my Mt bike career.

The exposure I got from the TV show led me to the owner of Slide Magazine. He wanted to know what I do as a professional surfer. He was shocked but equally stoked to know that I also like to ride mountain bikes when I am not in the water. After a few discussions, he decided that his magazine is going to do a write up on my career up to this point. More importantly, he wants to make sure my Mountain biking is included in the piece along with my surfing. In the segment his is going to showcase the “Flash” side of photography which for me means lots of riding and surfing at dark or when its totally black out.

The Dickies shots are for some promotional things they are releasing in 2010. I don’t want to spill the beans on anything that’s coming up; but look for Dickies (and a few other awesome companies) to make a splash on the Action Sports community next year.

More to come soon Thanks…
